Kaua‘i road closures week of Feb. 13-18

WAIMEA — Starting today, county contractor Kaikor Construction will begin repairs for temporary pedestrian access to the Waimea swinging bridge by restoring the section of the bridge’s walkway, landing and stairs that were damaged during a January rockfall on Menehune Road.

During this phase of work, Menehune Road will be closed today to Thursday, Feb. 17, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Friday, Feb. 18, from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

As with all county and state road work, it is weather-permitting.

Wailua

• A right-shoulder closure and narrowed lanes of Kuhio Highway in the southbound direction between mile markers 5.7 and 6.7, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and the Kapa‘a bypass road, takes place today through Friday, Feb. 18, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for road and shoulder work;

Pakala village

• A right-lane closure of Kaumuali‘i Highway in the southbound direction between mile markers 20.9 and 21.4, Ala Wai Road and Poke Road, takes place today through Thursday, Feb. 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree trimming;

Koloa

• Road-resurfacing work along Ala Kalanikaumaka is scheduled today through Friday, Feb. 18, from 8 to 4:30 p.m., according to the county Department of Public Works and contractor Maui Kupuno Builders. The road will be closed to traffic in both directions from the Koloa Road roundabout to Lopaka Paipa Boulevard. Motorists will be detoured to Lopaka Paipa Boulevard. Wailua

• A right-shoulder closure and narrowed lanes of Kuhio Highway in the southbound direction between mile markers 5.7 and 6.7, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and the Kapa‘a bypass road, takes place today through Friday, Feb. 18, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for road and shoulder work;

Kapa‘a

• A portion of Mailihuna Road will be closed today through Friday, Feb. 18, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., according to DPW and contractor Grace Pacific LLC. The periodic, one-lane closures are necessary for sidewalk construction, driveway construction and roadway excavation. A temporary traffic detour route will be available through Kolohala Road. Kealia

• A right-shoulder closure and realignment of lanes of Kuhio Highway in the southbound direction between mile markers 11.8 and 13, Makanani Street and Kukuihale Road, takes place now through Friday, Feb. 18, 24-hours-a-day, for shoulder work;

Kilauea

• A single-lane closure on Kuhio Highway in both directions between mile markers 19 and 21.6, Kapuna Road and Wailapa Street, takes place now through Friday morning, Feb. 18, from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., for road reconstruction and resurfacing;

• A right-lane closure on Kuhio Highway in both directions between mile markers 21 and 25, Waiakalua Street and Kalihiwai River, takes place today through Friday, Feb. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for grass-cutting;

Princeville

• A right-lane closure on Kuhio Highway in both directions between mile markers 26.9 and 28.1, Ka Haku Road and ‘Anini Stream, takes place today through Friday, Feb. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for grass-cutting and tree-trimming;

• A right-lane closure on Kuhio Highway in the southbound direction between mile markers 6 and 6.3, near Ananalu Road, takes place today through Friday, Feb. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for tree-trimming.
