Kaua‘i roadwork scheduled through May 26

LIHU‘E — A number of lane closures are scheduled on Kaua‘i next week, including several along a busy stretch of Kuhio Highway in Wailua, the Hawai‘i Department of Transportation said on Friday, May 19.

Here’s a look at local roadwork scheduled from Sunday, May 21, through Friday, May 26:

Anahola

A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for guardrail repairs between mile marker 15 and 16.5, in the vicinity of Aliomanu Road and Koolau Road, beginning Monday, May 22 through Friday, May 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

‘Ele‘ele to Kalaheo

Detour on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction between mile marker 12.23 to 15.6, in the vicinity of Halewili Road to Halewili Road, on Monday, May 22, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., for routine bridge inspection of Wahiawa Stream Bridge. Highway will be open for local access only. Motorists will be detoured onto Halewili Road at this time.

Lawa‘i

A single lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible for restriping crosswalks in either direction, between mile marker 9 to 10.4, in the vicinity of Koloa Road and Upa Road, starting Monday, May 22 through Friday, May 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Lihu‘e

A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for guardrail repairs in the vicinity of Rice Street and Laukini Road, beginning Monday, May 22 through Friday, May 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

A right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is scheduled in the westbound direction for tree trimming between mile marker 3 and 4, in the vicinity of Puunana Road and Kipu Road, beginning Monday, May 22 and Tuesday, May 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Oma‘o

A right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible for guardrail repair in the westbound direction between mile marker 7.9 and 8.1, beginning Monday, May 22 through Friday, May 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Pakala

A single right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible for grass cutting and guardrail clearing in the westbound direction between mile marker 18.5 to 22, in the vicinity of Kaumakani Road, from Monday, May 22 through Friday, May 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Princeville

A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for guardrail installation and maintenance between mile marker 0 and 2.1, in the vicinity of Princeville Center, beginning Monday, May 22 through Friday, May 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for guardrail installation and maintenance.

Wailua

Right shoulder closure and narrowed lanes of Kuhio Highway (Route 56) in the southbound direction between mile markers 5.7 and 6.7, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and Kapaa Bypass, for the Kuhio Highway Short-Term Improvements.

Nightly two-lane closures of Kuhio Highway (Route 56) are possible in either direction between mile markers 5.9 and 6.6, in the vicinity of Kuamoo Road and Kapaa Bypass on Sunday, May 21, through Friday, May 26, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., for lane smoothness grinding, striping layout and drainage work as a part of the Kuhio Highway Short-Term Improvements. Traffic will alternate in both directions through one open lane.

A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for guardrail and drainage installation and striping between mile marker 5.9 and 6.6, in the vicinity of Kuamoo Road and Kapaa Bypass, on Monday, May 22 through Friday, May 26, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

A right lane closure on Kuamoo Road (Route 580) is possible in either direction for tree trimming between mile marker 6 and 6.7 beginning Wednesday, May 24 through Friday, May 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Waimea

A single lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible for routine bridge inspection in either direction at Waimea River Bridge on Wednesday, May 24, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
