LIHU‘E — Yesterday, Mayor Derek Kawakami announced a new Emergency Rule 17 that clarifies quarantine periods for those traveling under critical infrastructure allowances.
Gov. David Ige signed Emergency Rule 17 on Tuesday, Sept. 8, which allows the county to require that all persons performing critical infrastructure functions must designate a hotel or motel as a quarantine location.
Any person violating any rule of the governor or mayor, if convicted, could face a fine of up to $5,000 or serve up to a year in jail, or both.
