KDHO: 64 new cases, 33 recover at KCCC

LIHU‘E — Thirty-three inmates at the Kaua‘i Community Correctional Facility have recovered from COVID-19, according to the state’s Department of Public Safety.

That leaves currently 23 active cases among inmates, and one among staff.

On Friday, the state’s Department of Health Kaua‘i District Health Office announced 64 new COVID-19 infections on the island.

That brings the county’s number of active, recorded cases to 316, with six hospitalized.

To date, the county has recorded 11,404 COVID-19 cases.

Saturday, Ho‘ola Lahui Hawai‘i will host two walk-in vaccine clinics open to everyone aged 5 and older. In Kapa‘a, the team will be at the Ho‘ola Lahui Hawai‘i Kaua‘i Community Health Center behind Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital from 9 to 11 a.m., and at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waimea from 9 to 11 a.m.

A free testing site at Kaua‘i War Memorial Conventional Hall in Lihu‘e is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. A mobile testing clinic will be at the Hanalei Neighborhood Center today from 1 to 5 p.m. No appointment is necessary.
