KFD rescues 30-year-old visitor from Kalalau Beach

KALALAU – First responders rescued an injured 30-year-old California visitor from Kalalau Beach on Sunday.

According to a preliminary report, first responders received a report at approximately 2:10 p.m. of an injured male at Kalalau Beach.

Crews with the Kaua‘i Fire Department Hanalei Fire Station 1, Rescue 3 aboard Air 1, and American Medical Response responded to the incident.

First responders arrived on scene around 4:15 p.m. and discovered a male hiker with a leg and other injuries at Kalalau Beach. Rescue 3 loaded the injured hiker and his partner aboard Air 1 and transported them to Princeville Airport.

Responding medics with American Medical Response continued treatment on the hiker and transported him to Wilcox Hospital in stable condition.

The scene was cleared at approximately 4:40 p.m.
