NAWILIWILI — The Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank will be offering food distribution from its Nawiliwili facility starting today, Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. through the remainder of this year. Food distributions will be done every Tuesday.
“There will be one exception,” said Kelvin Moniz, the KIFB executive director. “For Dec. 22, we will be available from 10:30 a.m. until noon.”
Moniz asks that the public be mindful that KIFB is working with a limited staff, and are not in a position to accept volunteer help.
“As with other businesses, the COVID-19 crisis is temporarily affecting how the Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank operates,” Moniz said. “Under the emergency proclamations enacted by Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami and Gov. David Ige, the KIFB is operating under the appropriate means to follow the Centers for Disease Control social distancing guidelines. Food recipients are required to wear face masks if they are planning on picking up food. We are continuing to serve the unemployed, homeless, and those in the community who are in need in the best way we can during this time of crisis and uncertainty.”
