Koloa house fire causes $400K in damage

KOLOA — A residential structure fire resulted in roughly $400,000 in damages to a home and its contents on Thursday evening, April 6, 2023, authorities said.

The blaze, which was reported at approximately 8:15 p.m., ravaged a house on Puni Road and displaced three individuals.

“According to a preliminary report, upon arrival, Koloa fire station personnel were first on scene and discovered a one-story residential structure ablaze, with the building’s occupants outside,” the Kaua‘i Fire Department said in a statement.

“They were later joined by personnel from the Kalaheo fire station. Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire and extinguished it.”

Fire department prevention investigators then conducted an investigation.

The cause of the fire was not released. The house fire is under investigation.

American Red Cross volunteers provided assistance to one of the displaced individuals.
