KVMH Auxiliary, HEPA announce scholarships

WAIMEA — The Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Hawai‘i Emergency Physicians Association announced the recipients of its scholarships during a recent gathering at the Waimea Chicken in a Barrel location at the Waimea Plantation Cottages.

James Pope of Kekaha and Tyler Tanaka of Anahola were named to $3,000 scholarships for the school year by the HEPA that presents one scholarship for the West, represented by Pope, and one scholarship for the East, represented by Tanaka.

The KVMH Auxiliary presented $1,000 scholarships to each of six recipients, including Glydelle Valmoja of Kaumakani, Hazel Serapio of ‘Ele‘ele, Casera Silva of Kalaheo, Hallie Frasco of ‘Ele‘ele, Cailin Pasion of Kekaha, and Samarin Kelley of Kalaheo.

Five of the recipients were recent graduates from Waimea High School with the exception of Tanaka who walked with the Kapa‘a High School Class of 2022, and Kelley who participated with the Kaua‘i High School festivities at Vidinha Stadium.
