KYF kicks off, Sept. 14

LIHUE — Participants in the Kauai Youth Football league have been working diligently since the end of July in anticipation of the Fall Season that opens September 14 with four games on tap at the Hanapepe Stadium.

Cheer members started the season with a cheer camp hosted at the Kauai High School gym, and following appearances at the KYF tackle football contests, will have its day on the competitive floor Oct. 6 when the KYF Cheer competition takes place at the Kauai High School gym starting at 10 a.m.

Tackle football players will take the field Sept. 14 when the Flag divisions from the Hanapepe Cowboys meet the Lihue Red Raiders in a 10:30 a.m. kickoff.

That contest will be followed by the Division 3 Hanapepe Cowboys kicking off against Lihue in a noon showdown.

The Division 2 teams for both teams meet starting at 1:45 p.m., and the day ends with the Division 1 squads tangle starting at 3:30 p.m.

Kauai Youth Football is a nonprofit organization operating under the American Youth Football, Inc. with more than 800,000 participants in all 50 states. The objective is to promote the wholesome development of youth through their association with adult leaders in the sport of American football.
