The Kapa‘a High School girls basketball team, the current Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association Division II state champions, earned the No. 1 seed for the 2024 Heide & Cook HHSAA Division II girls basketball championships, which runs from Tuesday through Friday on O‘ahu.
Maryknoll, who played Division I, returned to Division II play as the No. 2 seed in the HHSAA announcement on Saturday afternoon. No. 3 seed is Kamehameha School-Hawai‘i and No. 4 seed is McKinley High School of the O‘ahu Interscholastic Association.
Lanai High School of the Maui Interscholastic League earns the No. 5 seed and will see action on the opening day of the DII tournament. Lana‘i will play Hanalani, who Kapa‘a beat for the DII crown in 2023.
Other games on opening day include Hawai‘i Preparatory Academy tipping off against Hawai‘i Baptist Academy with the winner advancing to meet Kapa‘a High School on Wednesday in a 5 p.m. showdown at Kalani High School.
No. 2 seed Maryknoll will face the winner of the Tuesday game between Farrington High School and Kohala High School, and the No. 3 seed KSH will face off against the winner of the Tuesday match featuring the Moloka‘i and Kapolei.
The No. 4 seed McKinley Tigers will face the winner of the Tuesday match between Lanai and Hanalani on Wednesday.
The DII championship game will be played on Friday starting at 5 p.m. at Blaidell Arena on O‘ahu.
