Learn about resources for Kaua‘i caregivers

AARP Hawai‘i and the Kaua‘i Agency for Elderly Affairs are offering a free virtual workshop for caregivers on the Garden Island.

The workshop, on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 9 a.m., will help caregivers and older residents learn about resources and government services available Kaua‘i with caregiving and COVID-19 relief. Learn how to access Meals on Wheels, transportation, case management, adult day care, home care and more at this free webinar. Register to get a Zoom link by going to aarp.org/HI and clicking on Upcoming Events.

Participants should download the free Zoom Meeting app ahead of the meeting. For those unfamiliar with Zoom, a free technology check-in sessions will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Register for a link to the Zoom Check-in at aarp.cvent.com/techcheck2000.

The Kaua‘i resources webinar is part of AARP’s Caregiver Wednesday workshops that run through Dec. 16, at 4 p.m. every Wednesday. To find out more about the Caregiver Wednesday webinars go to aarp.cvent.com/care20-21. The session at 4 p.m. on Nov. 18, is about Medicare for Caregivers, followed by a Wednesday Nov. 25 webinar on what caregivers should know about Social Security.

“There are an estimated 157,000 family caregivers in Hawai‘i,” said Keali‘i Lopez, AARP Hawai‘i regional director. “We want them to know that they are not alone and that there are services available to help them.”
