Machorek graduates from U.S. Military Academy

WEST POINT, N.Y. — Cadet Kate Machorek, daughter of Chris and Stacey Machorek of Kalaheo, graduated from the U.S. Military Academy late last month.

Machorek, born and raised on Kauai, graduated from Kauai High School in 2015. While at West Point, she majored in international law and legal studies. She was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army within the quartermaster corps branch, and will focus on logistics.

She will join the 101st Airborne at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, along with her husband, 2nd Lt. Ryan Wieties. The West Point graduates were married on June 2, 2019, in New York.

The mission of the U.S. Military Academy is to educate, train and inspire the corps of cadets so that each graduate is a commissioned leader of character committed to the values of duty, honor and country, and prepared for a career of professional excellence and service to the nation as an officer in the U.S. Army.

The U.S. Military Academy at West Point is a four-year, co-educational, federal, liberal-arts college located 50 miles north of New York City.
