KAPAA — State Rep. Nadine K. Nakamura invites the community to attend a talk-story session regarding Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital, where officials will deliver an update on the hospital’s draft conceptual master plan.
The meeting is Wednesday beginning at 5 p.m. in the hospital auditorium, 4800 Kawaihau Road.
The plan aims to assess the current state of the hospital, determine improvements needed to address current and future health service needs, and facilitate greater integration of adjacent state parcels for affordable housing and community services.
“This is a prime opportunity for residents to learn about plans for the vacant lands surrounding Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital,” said Nakamura. “Resident feedback will help guide the final plan and prepare for the next phase of work.”
Nakamura, a Democrat who represents Ha‘ena, Wainiha, Hanalei, Princeville, Kilauea, Anahola, Kealia, Kapa‘a, and portions of Wailua, is expected to attend,
Attendance is limited to the first 50 people to RSVP. Bentos will be handed out. Attendees will be required to wear masks to comply with hospital policy. To RSVP, go to planmahelona.com.
