Menehune settle for 6th at softball state tournament

Waimea High School’s varsity softball team placed sixth in the 2019 DataHouse Softball Championships-Division II state tournament.

In the Division II fifth-place game Saturday at the Patsy T. Mink Field in Kahului, Maui, the Menehune lost to Honokaa of the Big Island Interscholastic Federation, 9-4. Play ended in the fourth inning because of the 90-minute time limit for consolation games.

Waimea ends its 2019 season with a 9-8 overall record. The Menehune were 7-6 during the Kauai Interscholastic Federation regular season and ended as the league runner-up, and then the team was 2-2 at the Division II state tournament.
