Mokihana Club offers music scholarships

LIHU‘E — Elyse Litvack of the Kaua‘i Mokihana Club reminds music-scholarship applicants the deadline for submitting completed forms is Friday, April 16.

Late applications will not be accepted.

Application forms are available at thekauaimokihanaclub.org, and the scholarships are available to graduating high-school seniors who have a desire to continue their musical pursuits.

The music scholarship is based on skill as determined at a competition, not financial need.

To be eligible, applicants must have resided on Kaua‘i for at least four months prior to the competition that takes place before the Mokihana Club membership; be a graduating high-school senior who is a student of voice or instruments; and be planning to attend an accredited college, university, vocational school or continue to study with a qualified music teacher.

Applicants also need to express a seriousness of purpose towards music, and must be recommended by a music teacher or school staff.

Completed application forms including recommendation forms must be submitted to themokihanaclub@gmail.com by April 16.

The auditions will be held on May 5 at the club’s Zoom meeting.

The Mokihana Club of Kaua‘i has awarded more than $65,000 to talented qualifying high-school seniors in public and private high schools since the program was established.
