National Tropical Botanical Garden Free movie night, Saturday

PO‘IPU — Jackie Nielsen of the National Tropical Botanical Garden wants to invite individuals and families to its second of three movies, Saturday night at the South Shore Visitor Center that is located across from the Spouting Horn lookout.

“Gates open at 6:30 p.m., and the movie — this week’s offering is Sing 2 — starts 30 minutes following sunset,” Nielsen said. “This is the second film of the NTBG Summer Series and admission is free (although suggested donations are appreciated).”

According to information on the NTBG website, the Cognition Learning Center from the Kaua‘i Community College will be hosting games and activities before the movie starts.

There will be food available for purchase from vendor food stands, and on each movie night, a drawing for a one-year family membership to the gardens will be given away.

Nielsen, who along with Gwen Silva coordinates the weekly Aloha Market that meets on Thursdays from 10 a.m., said the third movie night will feature “Jungle Cruise,” on Aug. 6.

“When we aired ‘Encanto,’ on June 4, the first of the three-film series, there were about 200 people who took advantage of the nice weather to enjoy the film under the stars,” Nielsen said.
