No contraflow this week

WAILUA — The state Department of Transportation announced that the Kuhio Highway southbound contraflow between the Kapa‘a bypass road in Waipouli and Kapule Highway in Hanama‘ulu will not operate today through Friday, July 30, due to an equipment failure.

Continued maintenance on one of the vehicles that allows DOT crews to safely place the cones along the four miles of highway went down Friday.

There were no contraflow operations on Saturday.

Mechanics worked through the weekend to prepare the contraflow truck for normal operations today, but found issues that will take additional time to address.

Normal operations for the Kuhio Highway contraflow through the Wailua corridor are weekdays between 4:15 a.m. and 11 a.m. and Saturdays between 7:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
