Benigno “Papa” “Tata Ben” Lagat, 94, of Papaikou died Jan. 25 at home. Born in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a retired heavy equipment operator for the former Hilo Coast Processing Co. and member of Hawaii Island Adult Care and Immaculate Heart Mary Catholic Church. Visitation 6-9 p.m. Thursday, March 7, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Wake service at 7 p.m. Visitation again 8:30-9:30 a.m. Friday, March 8, at Immaculate Heart Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou. Mass at 10 a.m. Casual attire. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park, Ilima Section. Survived by sons, Francis (LaDonna) Lagat of Wichita Falls, Texas, Maurice (Sandy) Lagat of Lorena, Texas, and Paul (Leelynn) Lagat of Keaau; daughters, Inez (Mark) Johnson of Papaikou and Carla Lagat (Ely) Ramos of Honolulu; daughter-in-law, Hae Ok Lagat of Las Vegas; brother, Rosalio Lagat of the Philippines; sister, Anecita Lagat of the Philippines; sisters-in-law, Nancy Toribio and Elizabeth Toribio of Hilo, Pauline Toribio and Rose Toribio of Honolulu; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Don “Uncle Donny” Gabral Medeiros, 61, of Mountain View died Jan. 23 at Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Honolulu. Family and friends will be notified of Don’s memorial by his family. Survived by wife, Delfin Medeiros of Mountain View; son, Don (Chanel) Medeiros Jr.; daughters, Mandy Holi, Brandy (Lawrence) Taniguchi, Candy (Raifen) Frank, Jandy (Richard) Pontin, Roxanne (Joshua) Soriano and Patricia (Patrick) Lum; brothers, Robert (Jeanette) Medeiros, Benny Brink and Daniel Cordeiro; sisters, Barbara (James Sr.) Joseph and Judith Medeiros; 21 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Arrangements by Ballard Family Mortuary.

Theodore “Teddy” “Ted” W. Medeiros Jr., 54, of Lihue, Kauai, formerly of Hilo, died Feb. 10. He worked at Kauai Kustoms Towing and was formerly a car sales manager for Midpac Auto Center. Hilo visitation 8-10 a.m. Friday (March 1) at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Kauai services are pending. Survived by mother, Shirley Medeiros of Hilo; son, Kelden (Britni Palacio) Medeiros of Kauai; sister, Debra (David) Cabarloc; brothers, Randy (Kehau) Medeiros and Paul (Cindy) Medeiros of Hilo; a grandson; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

The late Richard Ferreira died in a private care home in Keaau. Incorrect information was submitted for an obituary published Feb. 20.
