Bartolome Pasion Maneja, 83, of Keaau died Feb. 11 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Dingas, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a retired plant propagator for the Bureau of Plant Industry in the Philippines, worked for Aloha Welding Shop, McConnell Orchid Nursery and Pacific Floral Resources and was a bible student of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. Visitation 5-6 p.m. Friday, March 12, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Service at 6 p.m. Visitation again 9-10 a.m. Saturday, March 13 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Alae Cemetery (Section K). Face masks and social distancing required. Survived by wife, Filomena Bautista Maneja of Keaau; children, Nerie (Orlino) Padamanda, Marlon (Maryanne) Maneja, Denis (Jocelyn) Maneja, Marivic (Joel) Hernandez and Aldrin (Dolly) Maneja from Hawaii, Ernesto (Odette) Maneja of Philippines and Merlyn (Sandre) Adanzo of California; step-son, Greg (Gladys) Dayrit of New Zealand; brothers, Juanito Maneja of Philippines and Rodrigo (Norma) Maneja of California; sister, Virginia Cruz of California; 20 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; cousins, nephews and nieces. Aiko “Grace” Nirei Medeiros, 94, formerly of Papaikou, died Feb. 13 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Hilo, she was a retired kitchen helper for Café 100 and member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Papaikou Pensioners Club, and Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Visitation 9-10:30 a.m Wednesday, March 10 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Private graveside service to follow at the East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No.2. Face masks and social distancing required. Survived by sons, Virgil (Lorraine) Medeiros of Hilo and Kenneth (Maureen) Medeiros of Houston, Texas; daughter, Audrey (Dennis) Balucan of Holualoa; sister-in-law, Mae Nirei of Hilo; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; cousins, nieces and nephews. Yasue Kawasaki, 86, of Hilo died Feb. 15 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Pepeekeo, she was a retired veterans employment counselor for the State of Hawaii Employment Office. Private services at a later date. No flowers or koden (monetary offerings). Survived by son, Kevin (Suzanne) Kawasaki of Williamsburg, Va.; daughter, Kathy (Guy Saruwatari) Kawasaki of Hilo; brothers, Rodney (Marcelina) Miyamoto of Pahoa and Calvin (Dorothy) Miyamoto of Anaheim, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Filomena Miyamoto of Hawaiian Paradise Park and Tamie Miyamoto of Hilo; four grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Roy Wesley Taylor Jr., 62, of Mountain View died Feb. 20 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Kaneohe, Oahu, he was retired from the University of Hawaii at Hilo. Private services. Survived by wife, Christina Vidinha Taylor of Mountain View; children, Ikaika Aukai of Honolulu, Kekoa Aukai of Colorado, Joy (Henry) Aukai of Mountain View, Kurt Vidinha of Lawai, Kauai, Shanoa (Logan) Chamberlin of Pahoa and Krystyn Vidinha-Taylor of Mountain View; brothers, Therman Taylor of Indianapolis and Scott Taylor of California; sisters, Vira Von Scott of Pepeekeo, Cindy (Henry) Keliikuli Grace of Kaneohe, Oahu, Lisa (Moana) Heimuli of Kahaluu, Oahu and Keokilani Keliikuli Teixeira of Kurtistown; parents, Susann (George) Keliikuli of Kaneohe, Oahu; seven grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Mrs. Mabel Kalahoano Andrews, 69, of Hilo also worked as a legal secretary for Andrew S. Iwashita, Attorney At Law. The information was not submitted for an obituary published on February 26.
