Norman ‘Toppy’ Leslie Braun
Norman “Toppy” Leslie Braun, 86, passed away on June 8, 2025, in Koloa. He was born on Dec. 28, 1938, in Hawai‘i. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a retired fire captain from the Kaua‘i Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Margaret Braun and sister Loretta Braun.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Braun, daughters Carla Kurokawa, Carlette (Michael) Frye, sons Carl (Kelly) Braun, Calvin Braun, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Private funeral will be held at the Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe. Family and friends are encouraged to join a Celebration of Life on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025, from 11a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kaua‘i Veterans Center in Lihue. The family requests flowers be omitted.

Levi Ku‘ualohalani Lancaster
Levi Ku‘ualohalani Lancaster, 35, passed away unexpectedly on May 8, 2025, in Ohio. He was born on Kauai on Sept. 22, 1989.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Michael Akuna, Bernard “Pote” Lancaster Jr. and grandma Clara Akuna.
He is survived by his daughters Cha‘Leiah Lancaster Fabro, Kiliana Lancaster, Kiare-Elena Lancaster, sons Chandon Lancaster Fabro, Kaikoa-Oliwa Lancaster, parents Ermine Akuna, Bernard Lancaster Sr., sisters Coty (James) Hensley, Bernadene Lancaster, Leilani Akuna, Shania Akuna, brothers Kyle (Latasha) Lancaster, Ola McMahon, Kaena Akuna, numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Trinidad Macugay Yago
Trinidad Macugay Yago, 88, of Lihue, passed away on June 16, 2025, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. She was born in Ilocos Sur, Philippines on May 6, 1937, and worked at Kauai Surf and Kauai Marriott for many years.
She was preceded in passing by her husband Estanislao Yago, son Marcelino Yago, parents Gregorio Macugay and Esperanza Y. Y. Macugay.
Trinidad is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Yago, brothers Efipano Macugay, Rudy Macugay, three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held at Immaculate Conception Church on Saturday, June 28, 2025, with visitation from 8 to 9:30 a.m., a funeral Mass at 10 a.m., and burial to follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.
