Edna Mae Gouveia Esona

Edna Mae Gouveia Esona, 80, of Wahiawa, passed away on July 16, 2025. She was born on Nov. 30, 1944, in Lihue, Hawaii.

Edna was the youngest daughter of Alice and Joseph Gouveia. After graduating from Kapaa High School, she married her high school sweetheart, Steven. They raised four beautiful children together. She enjoyed spending time with her family and closest friends, loved going to church, and enjoyed going to Las Vegas to gamble.

She was preceded in death by her mother Alice Perreira Gouveia and father Joseph Gouveia.

She is survived by her husband Steven Esona, son Kevin (Jennifer) Esona, daughters Darlene (Kenny) Tajiri, Brenda (Eric) Nicolai, Venessa (Garrett) Iwai, brother Marvin Gouveia, sister Trudy (Lance) Valdez, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Sept. 29, 2025, at Mililani Memorial Park & Mortuary, Mauka Chapel. Visitation begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the service at 6:30 p.m. The family requests no flowers.

David ‘Kea’ Kauiokalani Kanealii

David “Kea” Kauiokalani Kanealii, 65, passed away on Aug. 30, 2025, in Anahola. He was born on April 20, 1960, in Hawaii. He was a pyrotechnician at Goodfellow Bros. and a baseball coach at Kapaa High School.

He was preceded in death by his parents David Kanealii and Pearl Leimomi Kanae Kanealii, brother Mike Poai, sisters Edee Poai Bandmann and Mina Medeiros.

He is survived by his sons Kiko (Kahea) Kanealii, Owai (Sunni) Kanealii, daughter Waileia (Terrin) Brokaw, brothers Mitchel (Lynn) Alapa, Kenwood (Lei) Alapa, sister Edee Defries and eight grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, at Kapaa Missionary Church. Friends may visit with the family at 8:30 a.m., followed by services from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Judith ‘Juliette’ Davidson

Judith “Juliette” Davidson passed away on Christmas Day 2024, at home, surrounded by loved ones.

Family and friends will gather on Sep. 21, 2025, in Moloaa Bay to spread her ashes and remember this unique, whimsical, funny, creative, open-minded and incredibly kind human.

She will be irreparably missed forever.
