One new COVID-19 case announced Friday

LIHU‘E — One new case of COVID-19 was reported by the Kaua‘i District Health Office on Friday, bringing the number of active cases to 10 with 348 cumulative cases. Kaua‘i’s cumulative case count includes 309 confirmed locally, two probable, and 37 positive cases diagnosed elsewhere, as they received their pre-travel test results after arriving on island.

Friday’s case is an adult resident who is a known close contact of a previous case. The source of infection is community-acquired. All active cases are in isolation, and close contacts are being identified, offered testing, and directed to quarantine. Investigations are ongoing.

“In addition to getting vaccinated, keeping distance, and staying home when you’re sick, mask-wearing is one of the crucial tools in preventing the spread of COVID-19,” said Dr. Janet Berreman, Kaua‘i District Health Officer. “Kaua‘i will continue to follow Gov. Ige’s statewide mandate on mask-wearing as it develops.”
