Park pavilions can be reserved starting today

LIHU‘E — The online system for acquiring permits to reserve county park pavilions reopens today, according to a Department of Parks &Recreation announcement.

The reservations available are for use starting Friday, July 23, at kauai.gov/parks, on the “Permitting” tab.

Permits may also be acquired in person by appointment. To make an appointment, call 241-4463 or email recpermits@kauai.gov.

Pavilion permits are available for the following sites: ‘Anini Beach Park, all three pavilions; Hanama‘ulu Beach Park pavilion; Lucy Wright Park pavilion; Lydgate Park large and small pavilions; Niumalu Beach Park pavilion; Po‘ipu Beach Park main pavilion; and w Wailua Houselots Park pavilion.

Permits can only be made a maximum of six months in advance. Inflatables and vehicle gate access will not be allowed.

“As more residents become vaccinated and the county continues to move towards a full reopening, we are pleased to start reinstating our recreational services to the public,” said Patrick Porter, DPR director said in the announcement.

“We thank the community for their patience and understanding while we made these difficult decisions over the past year. Health and safety will remain our top priority as we open more facilities and services in the near future,” he said.

All park permit holders will be required to adhere to all emergency rules currently in place. The County of Kaua‘i is currently in Tier 5, which allows a maximum of 75 people to gather at each pavilion.
