Police, health center not impacted by shutdown

KAILUA-KONA — Police and a West Hawaii community health center said Tuesday they haven’t experienced direct impacts to their operations as a result of the ongoing federal government shutdown.

Police said there are “no issues at all” facing the department as a result of the shutdown.

Maj. Robert Wagner said the department gets its grant money in October at the beginning of the federal fiscal year, so it isn’t impacted by the lapse in appropriations.

West Hawaii Community Health Center also said it hasn’t seen any direct impacts to funding as a result of the shutdown, saying all of its federal funding is currently intact.
