Police: Man wanted in non-fatal shooting in Ocean View committed suicide

Police say a man wanted for questioning in an October non-fatal shooting of another man in Ocean View hanged himself in early November.

The death of 33-year-old Carlwin David, whose body was found Nov. 2 in the 92-8000 block of Leilani Parkway in Ocean View, was ruled a suicide, police said. An autopsy found the cause of death as asphyxiation by suicide.

David was wanted in connection with the early morning shooting Oct. 26 of a 41-year-old Ocean View man who was found on the roadway in the 92-8000 block of King Kamehameha Boulevard with a gunshot wound to the chest.

The shooting victim was taken to Kona Community Hospital and survived. Police have not publicly identified him.

Anyone with information on either the shooting or hanging incidents is asked to call the police non-emergency number at 935-3311 or Crime Stoppers at 961-8300.
