Police seek ag theft suspects

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying seven individuals wanted for questioning about agricultural thefts occurring in the Pepeekeo and Hamakua areas.

The thefts took place along the Hamakua Coast between June and September. In all, about 1,500 pounds of fruit were stolen with a value of $5,000-$6,000. Stolen produce included durian, mangosteen, lemons, avocadoes and lychee.

“Agricultural theft is a serious crime and the department is committed in pursuing those who commit these crimes,” said Lt. William Derr of the Hilo Community Policing Section.
