Program explains why birds matter

The program, “Birds in the ‘Hood” is scheduled 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, at the Princeville Public Library.

“We see many different kinds of birds on Kauai,” said a press release. “Which ones are native, which ones are introduced? Which are helpful, and which are damaging? Which are doing just fine, and which need more protection? Should you put out a feeder for them? Why do they matter?”

Join Hob Osterlund, founder of the Kauai Albatross Network, author of “Holy Moli” and producer of the short documentary “Kalama’s Journey,” for a lively conversation about our feathered friends.

This free event is sponsored by the Friends of the North Shore Library at Princeville as part of the Dotty Nakea Memorial Speaker Program.
