Puakea may tee off this autumn

LIHU‘E — Puakea Golf Course is tentatively scheduled to reopen sometime this fall.

The course, a portion of which fronts Nawiliwili Road, suspended operations in April 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“This was a difficult decision, but is part of our stay-safer-at-home mandate. We will continue to do our part to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19,” Puakea Golf Course said at the time, in an announcement still posted to its website.

Manager Casey Watabu responded to an inquiry from The Garden Island on Wednesday.

“We haven’t set an reopening date yet … Fingers crossed that the new variants (of the novel coronavirus) don’t push (us) back further,” Watabu said in an email.
