Red Cross offers courses in dealing with COVID-19

HONOLULU — The American Red Cross is offering two online courses to help deal with COVID-19 as it relates to work and home life.

One course will focus on safe practices in returning to work, while the other focuses on mental health and the psychological first aid of dealing with stress.

Both courses are virtual and available to be taken at a viewer’s convenience for a $20 fee. For more details and to register, visit redcross.org/takeaclass or call 1-800-733-2767.

“The Red Cross recognizes that these are difficult times,” says Diane Peters-Nguyen, CEO of the Pacific Islands region. “COVID-19 has become a part of our daily lives, and it’s important to address the difficulties we all face head-on. These courses provide practical information that can be applied to help us all.”

The first course, Returning to Work During COVID-19: Safe Work Practices Online, focuses on action that can be taken to keep yourself, coworkers, families and community safe as your business reopens. Employees are provided with insight into new or modified policies and procedures that may be implemented by business owners to maintain a safe work environment and protect employees during the pandemic.

The second course, Psychological First Aid: Supporting Yourself and Others During COVID-19, works to help attendees learn to cope with the uncertainty experienced during the pandemic. Resilience and support for yourself and others is addressed through psychological first aid, including how to recognize and manage stress in yourself and others and how to lend support to family members, friends and coworkers.

The Red Cross is a nonprofit, humanitarian organization which provides assistance to meet the immediate emergency needs of those affected by disasters. All Red Cross assistance to disaster victims is free. The Red Cross is not a government agency. It depends on public contributions to help others. Gifts support the lifesaving mission of the ARC in communities, across the country and around the world.
