Resurfacing scheduled on Poohiwi Road for June 23 to 27

KALAHEO – The Department of Water (DOW) announces resurfacing work will occur along portions of Poohiwi Road this week from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting. Resurfacing work on Poohiwi Road is part of the Kalaheo Water Systems Improvements Project. Work is being performed by contractor Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company Inc.

Poohiwi Road is a narrow road with limited to no shoulder areas; therefore, a road closure will be implemented in 50-minute increments on sections of the road as work progresses to allow residents access. Traffic control will be positioned near the work areas to open access for local traffic only during the following scheduled times:

• Closed: 8 to 8:50 a.m.; Open 8:50 to 9 a.m.

• Closed: 9 to 9:50 a.m.; Open 9:50 to 10 a.m.

• Closed: 10 to 10:50 a.m.; Open 10:50 to 11 a.m.

• Closed: 11 to 11:50 a.m.; Open 11:50 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

• Closed: 12:30 to 1:20 p.m.; Open 1:20 to 1:30 p.m.

• Closed: 1:30 to 2:20 p.m.; Open 2:20 to 2:30 p.m.

• Closed from 2:30 to 3:20 p.m.; Open from 3:20 p.m. until the next business day.

Motorists are advised to adhere to posted signs and flagger personnel and allow additional time when traveling through Poohiwi Road. Additionally, no parking will be allowed along Poohiwi Road or near the intersection of Poohiwi Road and Puuwai Road.
