Road closures for the week of November 29 – December 5

LIHUE — A number of road-related projects are on tap in the days ahead with grass cutting, tree trimming and guardrail repair making up the bulk of the work, the Hawaii Department of Transportation said in an update on Friday.

Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting. A map of lane closures can be found here, https://hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/roadwork/

The following is a list of projects scheduled for the workweek ending Friday. All work is weather permitting.

Omao

Single lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) possible in either direction, between mile post 8.2 to 8.8 in the vicinity of Punee Road and Piiwai Place, on Thursday, Dec. 4 and Friday, Dec. 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for striping. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

Nawiliwili

Single lane closure on Nawiliwili Road (Route 51) possible in either direction, between mile post 0.0 to 0.8 in the vicinity of Waapa Road and Rice Street, on Monday, Dec. 1 to Friday, Dec. 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for concrete sidewalk and curb work. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

Kapaia to Hanamaulu

Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction, between mile post 1.1 to 1.6, in the vicinity of Maalo Road to Laukona Street, on Wednesday, Dec. 3 and Thursday, Dec. 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for cutting grass.

Wailua

Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) in the southbound direction, between mile post 5.7 to 5.9, in the vicinity of Wailua State Park Road and Kuamoo Road, on Tuesday, Dec. 2 to Thursday, Dec. 4 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for concrete pouring.

Kapaa

Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction, between mile post 8.0 to 9.5, in the vicinity of Akia Road, on Monday, Dec. 1 to Friday, Dec. 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for electrical and concrete work.

Kilauea

Two lane closure on Kolo Road at Kuhio Highway (Route 56) in both directions, on Monday, Dec. 1 to Friday, Dec. 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for striping and pavement marker installation.

Kalihiwai to Princeville

Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction, between mile post 24.4 to 28.1, in the vicinity of Kahiliholo Road to Emmalani Drive, on Monday, Dec. 1 to Friday, Dec. 5 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for striping.

Hanalei

Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) possible in either direction between mile post 1.5 to 1.8, on Monday, Dec. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for installation of sand barrels.

Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) possible in either direction between mile post 3 to 4.5, in the vicinity of Mahimahi Road, on Monday, Dec. 1 to Thursday, Dec. 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for cutting grass.

Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) possible in either direction between mile post 2.8 to 3.3, in the vicinity of Cin Tai Wai Road and Anae Road,on Monday, Dec. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for concrete work. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

Waikoko

Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) possible in either direction between mile post 4.6 to 4.8, in the vicinity of Waikoko Bridge and Lumahai Beach, on Monday, Nov. 24 to Tuesday, Nov. 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for soil nail drilling, grouting and installation of anchored mesh. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

Kokee

Single lane closure on Waimea Canyon Drive (Route 550) possible in either direction, between mile post 1.2 to 5.5 in the vicinity of Panini Place, on Monday, Dec. 1 to Friday, Dec. 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for pavement reconstruction. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

Single lane closure on Waimea Canyon Drive (Route 550) possible in either direction, between mile post 4.6 to 11.5, on Monday, Dec. 1 to Friday, Dec. 5 from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for shoulder reconstruction. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

Kapaia

Single lane closure on Maalo Road (Route 583) possible in either direction, between mile post 3 to 3.5, on Monday, Dec. 1 and Tuesday, Dec. 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for cutting grass.
