Road projects begin today in Honokaa

Roadwork along Plumeria and Lehua streets in Honokaa begins today.

According to the county Department of Public Works, the rehabilitation project includes paving Plumeria Street from Mamalahoa Highway to the intersection of Mamane Street and Honokaa-Waipio Valley Road.

The project, which consists of pavement reconstruction and pavement striping and markers, is set to be completed in February 2021, weather and construction conditions permitting.

Crews will begin paving at the top of Plumeria Street and work their way toward the intersection of Mamane Street and Honokaa-Waipio Valley Road.

One lane of alternating travel will be in effect during the day while the road is being paved.

Traffic control officers will direct traffic, and motorists are advised to drive with caution in the work zone.

According to DPW, crews also will repave the parking lot of the Honokaa transfer station, which will be closed Oct. 27.

Paving work will be done fronting the transfer station on Oct. 28.
