Snorkelers rescued Saturday

LIHUE — At approximately 1 p.m. Saturday, first responders received a report of three snorkelers in distress in waters off Larsen’s Beach. 

Responding units included Engine 1, Truck 1, Air 1, Rescue 3, Engine 8, Truck 8, the North and East roving ski patrol, the on-duty Battalion Chief, and personnel with American Medical Response.

Upon arrival, first responders made contact with two of the three snorkelers. A firefighter with the Hanalei fire station entered the water and assisted the third snorkeler on a rescue board and tube.

Once the snorkelers were out of the water, all three declined medical treatment from AMR personnel.
