The Kauai Bus offers modified transit service into Hanalei

HANALEI — Due to substantial delays from the ongoing roadwork on Kuhio Highway between Princeville and Hanalei, the Route 500 Hanalei and Route 400 Lihue mainline bus service of The Kauai Bus will start and end in Princeville during active roadwork hours on weekdays until further notice.

Passengers getting off in Princeville or getting on in Hanalei between 7:45 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. may utilize the free shuttle bus that will service the remainder of the bus stops in Hanalei town on weekdays only. Normal mainline service will be provided during the weekend and holiday service hours.

The free shuttle service will use the same destination sign as Routes 500 and 400, depending on the direction of travel. The Kauai Bus will continue to monitor ongoing road work in this area and will provide updates as needed, according to a county press release.

Travelers should anticipate substantial delays, as the road will be closed for long periods of time. When open, one lane of alternating traffic will be available in both directions.
