The Shops at Kukui‘ula hosts farmers market

PO‘IPU — The Kaua‘i Sugarloaf Pineapple, and the Rancher’s Daughter Reserve from the Andrade Cattle Company will be among the vendors when The Shops at Kukui‘ula hosts a special Pop-Up farmers market, Wednesday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on the mauka side of the Po‘ipu shopping center.

“We’ve partnered with the Kaua‘i County Farm Bureau for more than 10 years to connect the community with our local farmers at our weekly Kaua‘i Culinary Market,” said Stacie Chiba-Migues, the general manager of The Shops at Kukui‘ula. “While the culinary market has been on hold since the COVID-19 pandemic, we wanted to provide a new way to get locally-grown produce into local hands.

The special Pop-Up farmers market will feature fresh fruits and vegetables as well as other specialties and local favorites from some of the familiar farms such as O.K. King Farms, Sadka Farms, the Tropical Flowers Express, and more — all Kaua‘i grown and created. The special market is yet another way the community has to purchase essential goods while supporting Kaua‘i’s farmers, producers, and vendors.

“We are grateful that The Shops at Kukui‘ula is launching this pop-up farmers market to help our farmers and local community alike,” said Johnny Gordines, president of the Kaua‘i County Farm Bureau. “We are honored to continue our strong partnership with The Shops, and Alexander &Baldwin Hawai‘i — especially in such challenging times.”

Social distancing guidelines established by rules and regulations pertaining to the spread of COVID-19 will be in effect during the market. All safety precautions and guidelines will be monitored and followed.

These include social distance of at least six feet from any other person, face mask and other personal safety protection will be worn at all times, hand sanitizing stations provided, the sanitizing of high-touch areas, and the limitation of personal social interaction.
