This one’s for Gary!

The roar of unleashed engines and the aroma of nitrous in the air welcomed the Labor Day Weekend as the Garden Isle Racing Associated hosted a two-day event at the Kauai Raceway Park located about a mile past the Kekaha outskirts.

“Even I’m driving, today,” said Tony Ricci, the GIRA president. “This one’s for Gary Saiki. I gotta drive because we represent.”

In addition to the Gary Saiki shoot out, race drivers took advantage of two days of racing on the Kauai Raceway Park, described as the western-most National Hot Rod Association track in the United States.

The Labor Day Races, the second of two 2-day race events, also mark the end of night races because with just two more events remaining in the year’s calendar, both races will be daytime events.
