LIHUE — Pickleball Association Kauai (PAK) organizers are expressing gratitude to all the players, volunteers and supporters who made the third annual tournament possible, and are already gearing up for an even more exciting tournament next year.
On Aug. 8-10 at the Kauai Community College courts, pickleball enthusiasts from across the island and beyond gathered for lively and competitive play, according to a press release.
With players ranging in age and skill levels, the tournament celebrated both spirited competition and the close-knit camaraderie that defines the pickleball community, organizers said.
Players waged battle in a wide range of divisions, including singles, senior brackets, men’s and women’s doubles, and the popular mixed doubles.
Courts were buzzing throughout the weekend as matches unfolded under sunny skies with the occasional drizzle and refreshing island breeze, KPA said. Spectators and players alike cheered on high-energy rallies and closely contested finishes, many of which drew crowds to the sidelines.
“This tournament really shows how strong the pickleball scene is becoming on Kauai,” one spectator told PAK organizers.
Pickleball Association Kauai, a nonprofit committed to promoting the sport on Kauai through education events, and community engagement, organized the three-day tournament. The growing turnout reflects the association’s ongoing efforts to build a strong and inclusive pickleball community on Kauai.
