Two men from the mainland are being held on suspicion of manslaughter following the death of a 30-year-old man at a Kailua-Kona vacation rental.

At 2:09 a.m. Monday, the Hawaii Police Department received a call of a man that was unresponsive and not breathing in the 75-5800 block of Walua Road in Kailua-Kona after reportedly being in a physical altercation with his two roommates at a vacation rental. Upon officers arrival, Hawaii Fire Department personnel were observed performing CPR on the victim, according to police. Attempts to resuscitate the man were unsuccessful.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending positive identification and notification of next of kin, police said Monday afternoon.

Police said that preliminary investigation determined that a verbal argument between the three men at the rental escalated and turned physical.
