PRINCEVILLE — County officials, in partnership with Foodland and Intellectual Technology Inc., recently launched the island’s fourth self-service kiosk for motor-vehicle registrations, at Foodland in Princeville.
The other locations are the Waipouli and Lihu‘e Safeway stores and Ishihara Market in Waimea.
The Princeville self-service kiosk, like the others, allows customers to pay for their motor-vehicle registrations via a touchscreen by entering their license-plate number or scanning the bar code of their motor-vehicle-registration renewal form. In order to renew registrations via the kiosk, owners of vehicles must have valid safety checks.
Customers may only use debit or credit cards for transactions, and will incur a $3 service fee as well as a 2.5% debit and credit-card fee. Once a transaction is made, the kiosk will print out the vehicle registration and license-plate tabs.
“The addition of a DMV kiosk in Princeville is deeply appreciated by our North Shore community, especially with the additional challenge of multiple road-construction points from Ha‘ena to Lihu‘e,” said Councilmember Felicia Cowden.
