Waikoloa man indicted for sex assault of child, 6

A Big Island grand jury has indicted a Waikoloa man on two sexual assault charges for alleged crimes against a 6-year-old child.

Wayronn Carrasco-Rosalves was indicted Monday by a grand jury in Kona on one count each third-degree sexual assault of a minor younger than 14 and third-degree criminal solicitation of sexual assault stemming from alleged incidents that occurred August 2020 in Kona.

The first charge of third-degree sexual assault alleges that on or about Aug. 12, 2020, Carrasco-Rosalves “knowingly subjected to sexual contact or caused to have sexual contact with him” a minor younger that age 14. According to the indictment, the victim was 6 years old at the time of the alleged offense.

The second charge, third-degree criminal solicitation of sexual assault, alleges that 10 days later, on Aug. 22, 2020, Carrasco-Rosalves solicited a person with the intent to commit third-degree sexual assault of the same victim.

Both offenses are Class C felonies, which upon conviction, carry a sentence of up to five years behind bars.
