Waimea opens against OIA’s Waipahu at D2 girls basketball tournament

Waimea High School’s varsity girls basketball team will enter unseeded in the 2019 Snapple Girls Basketball Championships–Division II state tournament.

Waimea (10-3 KIF), this year’s Kauai Interscholastic Federation champion, will play against Waipahu High School of the Oahu Interscholastic Federation in the opening round Feb. 6 at 5 p.m. at Damien Memorial School in Honolulu.

In the opening round, Farrington High School of the OIA will play Saint Francis School of the Interscholastic League of Honolulu at 7 p.m. at Damien Memorial School.

Ka‘u High School of the Big Island Interscholastic Federation will play University Laboratory School of the ILH at 5 p.m. at Kalani High School in Honolulu.

Hanalani Schools of the ILH will play Kamehameha Schools-Hawaii of the BIIF at 7 p.m. at Kalani High School.

The four seeded teams received a first-round bye and will play in the quarterfinals Feb. 7.

Hawaii Baptist Academy of the ILH is the No. 1 seed. Seabury Hall of the Maui Interscholastic League is No. 2. Castle High School of the OIA is No. 3. Hawaii Preparatory Academy of the BIIF is No. 4.
