Waipio Valley will be closed to public access throughout the holiday weekend in order to prevent large gatherings that could spread COVID-19.
Between 7 a.m. today and 7 p.m. July 6, access to Waipio Valley will be limited to local traffic only, including residents, landowners and farmers. Special duty officers and Waipio Valley rangers will remain at the top of the valley access road to ensure compliance, and local traffic will be allowed to pass one vehicle at a time.
The county Department of Public Works also reminds residents to maintain social distancing, hygiene and face mask habits during the holiday weekend.
