Weather lets the kupuna play

LIHU‘E — Fine weather made possible a complete set of contests for both the 70s division and the 60s division in the Kaua‘i Senior Softball League that took the fields on both Friday for the 70s division and Saturday for the 60s division.

“Best wishes to both Peter Rayno Jr. and Kuku DeCosta, who both came through their recent medical issues with flying colors,” said league President J.C. Crouch. “Remember, we are out to play hard, fair, and to have fun. But most ofall, stay healthy.”

The league-leading Rookies improved to 18 wins, 1 loss, following the team’s 22-10 win over Solid Steel, and will face Kuku’s Aces on Saturday in the final game of three at the Hanapepe Stadium’s Pat Baniaga Field.

Kaua‘i County Council Member Ross Kagawa missed participating in The King’s Parade and Ho‘olaule‘a on Saturday in order to contribute his efforts to the 17-14 edge enjoyed by the Lihu‘e A’s over Makos.

Games continue this week Friday and Saturday, when the 70s division open play at Isenberg Park on Friday, with the first pitch scheduled to go off at 9 a.m.

Saturday, the 60s division teams play at Pat Baniaga field, and Peter Rayno Sr. Park in Hanama‘ulu. First games at both fields start at 9 a.m.
