Wharf Rats gnaw Cane Cutters in Senior Softball

LIHU‘E — The weather cooperated and the Kaua‘i Senior Softball League enjoyed a great weekend of softball, including the 70s Division that’s been sidelined for the past several weeks due to bad weather.

“In the 70s division, the Ahukini Wharf Rats put on a tremendous come-from-behind rally to beat the Koloa Cane Cutters,” said league President J.C. Crouch. “Unfortunately, Na Koa Kupuna came up short of players, so had to forfeit to Tsunami.”

The forfeit improves Tsunami to second place in the division standings with a 5-5 record, second to Ele Makule that is 6-0 on the season.

“The 60s Division saw a number of strong efforts from the Hanama‘ulu Hillsiders and Solid Steel,” Crouch said. “However, both teams came up short to the big bats of Makos and Barteks.”

The Rookies, 60s Division defending champions, continued to keep their win streak going with a win over Kawaihau.

“A lot of great games,” Crouch said. “One of the best parts is the camaraderie and friendship we all get to share following the games.”

Kaua‘i Senior Softball League games continue with the 70s Division teams meeting Friday at Isenberg Park in Lihu‘e, where the first pitch goes at 9 a.m.

The 60s Division games will play Saturday at the Kaumakani field and Isenberg Park. The first pitch at both locations goes at 9 a.m.
