A 24-year-old woman believed to be the driver of a reportedly stolen pickup truck shot at by police Wednesday was taken into police custody without incident this morning.
According to a police dispatch, Tearon Pacheco-Fernandez, who was wanted for a midday incident Wednesday in the Puainako KTA Super Stores parking lot in Hilo near the Jack in the Box restaurant, was arrested at 6:07 a.m. at a Volcano residence.
No one was injured in the incident in the busy supermarket parking lot the day before Thanksgiving. Police say two officers fired their service weapons at the fleeing Toyota Tacoma pickup, which allegedly drove toward one officer and almost hit the other while backing up.
One of the officers is a 15-year veteran of the department while the other is a six-year veteran, police said.
The truck also sideswiped a small, white Toyota sedan driven by a 71-year-old Hilo man while fleeing the parking lot toward Kilauea Avenue. The sedan’s driver was uninjured.
Police have also said Pacheco-Fernandez was wanted for questioning in a Nov. 14 incident in which an officer’s vehicle was rammed on Kaumana Drive in Hilo. The vehicle, police said, was a total loss.
Pacheco-Fernandez was wanted on outstanding arrest warrants, as well, and was the subject of an Aug. 28 wanted bulletin.
Also taken into custody, according to police, were 21-year-old Jaggar Dunne-Torres and 29-year-old Keani Grace, both on outstanding warrants.
Dunne-Torres was the subject of a May 2 police wanted bulletin which said he was sought on “multiple warrants.”
All are being held at the Hilo police cellblock pending further investigation.
