Nalani Brun was able to make it home from Washington, D.C., in time to render the national and state anthems during the Kauai Police Department Change of Command ceremony where retiring Chief Todd Raybuck welcomed Interim Chief Kalani Ke to assume leadership of the KPD officers.
Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami and a bunch of Kauai County Council members were still at Hawaii on the Hill (how many remember when Sen. Mazie Hirono came to visit Mabel Hashisaka and her Kauai Kookie ‘ohana before the very first Hawaii on the Hill, and what about Randy Francisco who personally brought Norman Hashisaka to Washington, D.C., so Norman could experience Hawaii on the Hill?).
But Arryl Kaneshiro made it to the 101st Police Recruit Graduation, and Fern Holland (nice lei for Michael McHugh, councilwoman) made it to the U.S. Coast Guard Change of Command ceremony on Friday where Jake Carroll is just one of two U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary with Ann Leighton (Michael McHugh said every USCG station needs an Ann Leighton). Jake is also part of the Civil Air Patrol.
OK, is the 5th annual Poke Fest sold out?
It’s alright because there’s the Downtown Lihue Night Market, the Bikes on Rice Street, and more like the Miss Kauai Filipina cultural festival, and the Nawiliwili Yacht Club Father’s Day Keiki Fishing to make Father’s Day exciting … honk, honk, Harvey Maeda, Rick Rasay and Frank Cruz of Kauai Classic Cars.
Happy Father’s Day!
