Any mascot suggestions?
Pity the poor elephant! As if this wise and noble beast had not suffered enough from being slaughtered so that its tusks could be made into baubles, and being dragooned into service as machinery in wars not of its own making, it now endures the indignity of having become a symbol of intransigent ignorance and willful disregard of truth.
In a belated and far-from-adequate effort to help the hapless creature, I suggest that the Republican Party, or at least its Trumpeter faction, select a new, more representative mascot. Do any readers out there wish to make recommendations?
A better alternative, and a more-fitting tribute to the elephant’s fabled wisdom, patience and probity, would be for honest partisans to emulate its character. This would uplift both the Grand Old Party and our nation.
