Letter for Sunday, May 28, 2023

A nice gesture

Thee are still some kind and observant people around Kauai.

On Tuesday evening, May 16, 2023. My wife and I were doing our evening exercise walk in Ele’ele heading home to Laulea Street.

To make a long story short. This Japanese lady driving home noticed that it was raining and saw us walking in the rain (little did she know that we were enjoying a little water on us). She stopped on the road (‘Ele‘ele Road) open her car door and went into her vehicles trunk and gave us an umbrella. We told her that we were fine walking in the rain.

However, she insisted that we take the umbrella and said, “bum bye get sick!” We thanked her and she drove off.

We didn’t get her name, but saw her shortly parking her vehicle. As we passed her, we thanked her again!

Much mahalo for your kindness!
