Food bank donations a win for all
During the month of September, a tourism-based company in Koloa, Skyline Eco-Adventures, offered a kamaaina discount for their ziplining tour. For a 10-can donation (per person) to the Kauai Independent Food Bank, local residents could enjoy a five-line zip course in Omao.
Our family recently took our tour and mentioned to the crew that it was a win-win for everyone involved. Local residents get the opportunity to do something out of the ordinary and experience our beautiful island in a new and adventurous way, the KIFB gets much needed canned food donations, and Skyline offers a discounted tour to local residents who will in turn recommend them to visiting friends and family.
I would love to see more of the companies that make millions on the tourism industry offer these same kinds of win-win opportunities for the people of this island, many of whom were born and raised here but have never had the kind of expendable income necessary to indulge in any of a wide array of tourist attractions in island.
It’s a simple give back that would pay dividends to everyone!
Give the hard-working folks here some fun and inexpensive opportunities and instill a culture of giving back within your company.
My hats off to Skyline for thinking outside the box. We will refer all visitors your direction.
