Robert S. Saito Sr.

Robert S. Saito Sr. passed away on Nov. 19, 2019, at the age of 91, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. He was born on Jan. 21, 1928, and was raised on Kauai, before enlisting in the United States Army. He was a paratrooper and actively served three wars. He retired with the rank of Sergeant First Class. He then returned home to Kauai and worked at the Kauai Freight Service where he also retired.

He is preceded in death by his parents Kiichi and Hatsue Saito; brother Herbert Saito Sr.

He is survived by his wife Lorraine Saito; sons, Robert Saito Jr., Ronald Saito; daughters, Naomi (Roy) Saito, Mariko Ringgold; sisters, Jean (James) Sato, Alice Hahn; brother Thomas (Edna) Saito; 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be private.

Kathleen M. Furtado Kali

Kathleen M. Furtado Kali, 67, of Pepeekeo, Hawaii. She passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2019, at home. She was born on Oct. 8, 1952, to Manuel Furtado and Jeanette Koerte.

She is survived by her husband Robert Junior Kali of Pepeekeo; son Harold (Kuuipo) Kali of Hanapepe; daughters, Lorelee (Travis) Puou of Waianae, Clara (William) Kali-Abihai of Kalaheo, Monica (Chad) Kali-Gomes of Pepeekeo; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, John Furtado of Omao, Calvin Furtado of Honolulu, Jason Furtado of Hilo, Jeffrey Furtado of Hilo; sisters, Susan Duarte of Sunnyvale, California, Brenda Viquelia of Lawai, Michelle Hasegawa of Hanapepe.

A Celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2020, at Salt Pond Beach Park (Main Pavilion) in Kauai from noon to 5 p.m. Family requests casual attire

Carolyn Ann Nii

Carolyn Ann Nii passed away peacefully on Nov. 24, 2019, in Bellevue, Washington, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 20, 1948, in West Virginia. Carolyn grew up in Ohio. She was a certified public accountant.

Daughter of the late Robert and Marie Dingle, Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband Michael N. Nii Sr. and survived by her sons, Robert (Christy) Nii, Christopher (Pammy) Nii, Michael (Megan) Nii Jr; grandchildren, Kailee, Kamden, Kanoa, Ashlyn, Cody, Makenzie, Michael Koa and Madisyn Nii; brother Robert Dingle Jr.

A service will be held at Lihue Hongwanji Mission at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019, with visitation starting at 3 p.m. The family invites guests for refreshments and fellowship following the service in the Social Hall.

Marie Augusto

Marie Augusto, lovingly known as Mary, went on to life in heaven on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. Born in Valley House, Kealia, on March 4, 1923, Mary lived a full life for 96 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband Cesar; her parents John and Mary Arruda; sisters, Agnes Shea, Helen Christiansen; brothers, Ernest and Manuel Arruda.

Mary is survived by brother John Arruda; sisters, Rosie Pimental, Dora Sugai. She is also survived by son Wayne Augusto; daughters, Kathleen Asuncion, Susie Gusman, Theresa Augusto. Mary was blessed with six grandchildren, Michelle Saia, Danette Aban, Stanford (Chantel) Aban, Don (Jody) Gusman, Rhonda (John) Cabello, Randal (Richel) Gusman; twelve great grandchildren, Andrew (Tasha) Saia, Tiane (Latu) Lao, Ashley, Randy Teves-Aban, Kala, Annie-Rose Maderia, Stanford Jr. Aban, Kolten Gusman, Noah, Jonah, Elisha Cabello’s, Reginald McFadden; four great-great-grandchildren, Kaya, Tu’ipulotu, Li’i, and Tosh Saia’s.

She love picking opihi, fishing, gardening and cooking. Her favorite activities were those that centered around family. Her love for God was evident in how she lived her life and how she encouraged others to live. She was known for her opu huli massage giftings and other natural healings remedies. Her life was impactful and selfness. She will be truly missed.

Her celebration of life will be held on Dec. 28, 2019, at St. Catherine Church. Visitation at 8 a.m. Eulogy at 9:30 a.m. Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at St. Catherine Cemetery.
